Where is Praani pet sanctuary
It is located about 50 kms from the Bengaluru city center at Sommanahalli near Kanakapura highway . Driveway roads to this destination are good . Its about an hour drive from city center and from Kanakapura highway main road about 15 minutes drive . At the entrance of the sanctuary, there is a one way lane road which is slight bumpy.
There is ample parking space at the spot and no parking charges. There is an entrance fee of Rs.400 per head with entry tickets mandatory for children above the age of 3 years. Visitors are grouped in batches and each batch is allocated a guide who explains in detail about the various species present and offers visitors to touch and feed the animals and birds. Naturally on weekends , there are more visitors due to which guides may brief in short to handle the crowd . While on weekends guide gets to spend a good amount of time strolling with visitors across the site.
Animals and birds include Horses , Donkeys , Goats and its calf , some few dog breeds , tortoises and turtles , Emu , Green and Orange Iguanas , cockatiel , Parakeet , Pheasants , Parrots , Love birds , fishes , Guinea pigs , Rooster , Amrock , Pedresa , Fowl , Ducks , spoonbills , Sheep etc. Visitors get to touch and feel the experience of many of these animals and birds . It may take about 2 to 3 hours to spend time watching them. It is advised to visit some places with face mask especially those who are allergic to shit and peeing smell of animals.
Most of the visitors take along their kids at this spot as its more educative to the kids and they get a chance to interact with the animals very close. Overall an amazing detox weekend destination to visit with family and friends. The center is open on all days between 9 AM to 5 PM . Except one or two street hawkers there are no much food options at the spot , visitors are advised to carry sufficient food supplies . Do visit this spot and share your experience.
