Banaswadi Hanuman temple , Bangalore's unique temples

After a long break , our team started their exploration and visited Hanuman temple at Banaswadi near Bangalore around 10-12 kms from city center. This temple is located inside the Dodda Banasawadi Village  attracts many devotees in the locality.

Few Highlights of this temple

  • Believed to be at-least more than 100 years old
  • Hanuman Idol - of about 4 to 5 feet - sculpted at Saligrama 
  • Special Ratha yatra & functions conducted during Navarathri , Hanuman Jayanathi
  • The unique specialty here , Hanuman Idol sheds tears during Hanuman Jayanthi which is considered as a strange phenomenon . The exact time when this happens is not known.
We visited here on a Saturday morning , which is considered auspicious for devotees worshipping lord Hanuman and naturally attracted hundreds of visitors.  As temple is inside village , there are no much parking facilities for 4 wheelers . We recommend you park your 4 wheelers on the main roads sides to avoid traffic jams here.  

Temple has a typical dravidian style of entrance Gopuram , on entering which on the left we find the Hanuman temple , just opposite to it is Sri Rama , Sita , Laxmana , Shiva (Basaweshwara) idols.  Special poojas are conducted here and temple management may be contact for further details. Maintained by the government , free lunch is organised everyday between 12 PM to 2 PM as prasadam.

Many hawk shops selling sacred threads , dry & fresh fruits , toys , food items , devotional music attract the visitors. Temple is open between 
  • Morning - 7 AM to 12.30 PM on weekdays and till 2.00 PM on weekends.
  • Evening - 5 PM to 8 PM on weekdays and till 8.30 PM on weekends.
