Love Matteru Kannada movie review , songs , trailer

Love Matteru, directed by debutant Virata Bilwa is a quirky, emotionally layered exploration of heartbreak, healing, and the oddities of smalltown romance. The film opens with a cheeky scene—King Ramanna (Lokesh Achar) performing a pooja at a liquor shop, setting the tone for a story that’s anything but conventional. We follow Dilip aka Dil (Virata Bilwa), a swaggering young man who believes heartbreak can be outrun on a motorbike. He falls for Shalini (Sushmitha Gopinath), only to discover she’s in love with his cousin Shivu. Reeling from betrayal, Dil turns to his drinking buddy Atmaram (Achyuth Kumar), who harbors his own wounds from a past love. Dil’s path crosses with Dr. Varsha (Sonal Monteiro), who falls for him—but fate intervenes again, compelling her to marry Ram (Abhinavraj). Meanwhile, Atmaram reconnects with Shyamala (Suman Ranganathan), and their mature love story becomes the film’s emotional anchor.

Cast includes Virata Bilwa,Sushmitha Gopinath,Sonal Monteiro,Achyuth Kumar,Suman Ranganathan,Anitha Bhat and Lokesh Achar. Virata Bilwa wears two hats , lead actor and director and his ambition is evident. He attempts to cater to college youth, family audiences, and multiplexgoers all at once. The result is a film bursting with emotion, betrayal, action, and comedy. The screenplay shines in its quieter moments, especially the Atmaram Shyamala track, which feels like rediscovering a forgotten melody. However, some scenes linger too long, while others like the climax rush past without emotional closure. Music by Shadrach Solomon is peppy and emotionally resonant. Lyrics by Chethan Aniketh, Ashok Maddur, and Mrugashira Srikanth are meaningful and rooted in local idioms. Cinematography captures the rustic charm of smalltown Karnataka, with warm tones and intimate framing. Editing is functional but could have benefited from tighter pacing in the second half.

Movie displays heartbreak is universal but healing begins with selfawareness and empathy , Don’t rush to conclusions—especially in matters of love and betrayal. Friendship and mentorship matter—Atmaram’s role shows how shared pain can lead to growth. Love isn’t always fireworks—sometimes it’s quiet, awkward, and deeply human. Age doesn’t diminish tenderness—the mature romance subplot is a reminder that love evolves, not expires.
