Rona Kannada movie review , songs , trailer

Rona, directed by Satish Kumar, is a politically charged Kannada drama that blends village life, generational conflict, and questions of morality into a gripping narrative. It’s a debut that ambitiously tackles multiple themes politics, faith, corruption, and family loyalty making it both thought provoking and emotionally resonant.  The film begins with a mysterious murder on a highway, setting a tone of intrigue. The story then shifts to a rural village where Ramakrishna (Sharath Lohitashwa), a respected elder, and his friend Hanumantha (Bala Rajwadi) fight to protect farmers’ land from being acquired for a solar energy project. The local MLA, hand in glove with corporate interests, manipulates villagers through staged events and false promises.  When Hanumantha is killed by the MLA’s supporters, Ramakrishna shelters his daughter Kaavya, while Shivu (Raghu Raja Nanda) Ramakrishna’s son steps up to challenge the corrupt system. Shivu’s journey is both personal and political, as he navigates love, friendship, and the burden of responsibility in a village scarred by secrets and betrayal.

Sharath Lohitashwa as Ramakrishna delivers gravitas, embodying the village’s moral compass.  Bala Rajwadi as Hanumantha adds emotional depth, his tragic arc fueling the narrative. Raghu Raja Nanda  , in his debut lead role, impresses with strong action sequences and emotional range. Prakruthi Prasad plays Kaavya, bringing vulnerability and resilience to the story. Supporting roles by K.S. Sridhar and others enrich the village’s social fabric. Satish Kumar, making his directorial debut after nine years in the industry, ambitiously weaves together politics, superstition, devotion, corruption, and family drama  . The screenplay is packed with emotional dialogues and intense confrontations. The background score heightens tension during political clashes and emotional scenes.  Cinematography  , shot around Hoskote, captures the rustic beauty of Karnataka villages, contrasting serenity with the chaos of political conflict. Ritual sequences and village fairs are visually striking, adding cultural authenticity.

Movie emphasizes the importance of standing together against exploitation.  Tradition vs. modernity  , it questions how rituals and faith can be manipulated for political gain. Moral courage matters  , Shivu’s arc shows that youth must rise to challenge injustice.  Sacrifice and resilience  , Hanumantha’s death and Ramakrishna’s sheltering of Kaavya highlight the cost of integrity.
