Inspiring story behind why Ganapathi is worshipped first

In Hindu myth , we usually observe in temples and places where poojas are conducted , Lord Ganapathi is remembered and worshipped first , prayers are submitted and then the actual pooja continues. Also in many cultural programme , songs , prayers on Ganapathi are sung first and then the actual events start.  Have you ever wondered why is this so ? In this post we share an interesting story from hindu myth describing the reason for same. Some of us may already be knowing this story -  its worth reading again which carries a beautiful message to the society. 

Of the two sons of Lord Shiva & Goddess parvathi - Murugesha and Ganesha , had more nurture towards Ganesha being the younger son.  Their home being Himapuri  , was full of snow filled hills and rocks. One day - Parvathi took Ganesha near the water flow where she used to take her bath.  Before entering the flow , Parvathi instructed Ganesha to guard the entrance and not to allow anybody till she comes back from bath, even if Shiva comes make him stay back till she is back. Ganesha was a great follower of his elder's advise and followed the same. Ganesha with all his earnestness started guarding the entrance 

After some time , few Shivaganaas reached this spot and asked ganesha to inform parvathi that Shiva would like to see her and has asked to meet him. Ganesha politely replied them with the instructions which paravathi had told him . Shivaganaas  still forced ganesha and tried to enter entrance . Ganesha became furious watching this , with anger started dispelling them by beating them. Shivaganaas baffled by the incident left the spot and informed shiva about the event. Shiva got by surprise, consoled them and did not like the way ganesha treated them. He himself left to the spot to review the situation

Ganesha on seeing Shiva at the entrance with full respect submitted the paranamas and informed what parvathi had told him. Shiva tried to convince Ganesha that it is not good for children to interfere with elders , but yet ganesha bound by his promise did not allow Shiva to enter . Furious by ganesha's behaviour , shiva was so angry that forgetting ganesha is his son,  took his trishula and cut off ganesha's neck , separating his body and head.  Parvathi just returned back when this happened , shocked by the incident , with outraged grievance and anger took the form of a Kali with intention to destroy the world . Noticing this , Narada tried to console both Shiva & Parvathi , begged Shiva to grant life back to ganesha. By this time , Shiva's anger had reduced and proceeded to give back life to ganesha.  As ganesha's head was damaged , shiva replaced this with a beautiful child Elephant's head. Ganesha got his life back , but parvathi was not satisfied and thought others may make fun seeing at ganesha. Narada consoled that he shall make him the leader for all worlds. Ganesha did not like this which hurt his self-respect and requested to arrange a competition to prove himself if he is worth for the position and only if he wins he would accept the offer.  Shiva parvathi were very happy watching this character and decision from ganesha.

Accordingly a competition was arranged - one who travels one complete round the world , covering one circumference and reaches faster back shall be considered the winner . All devataas along with murugesha started their travel , while ganesha started on with his vehicle Mooshika . As Mooshika was very slow , it hardly managed to travel even smaller distance. Noticing this ganesha thought for a moment , came back to spot where Shiva parvathi was sitting and due respect , submitted his pranamaas by rounding them 3 times and stood back . After some time all devataas returned back traversing the world. All were took by surprise seeing Ganesha who told them he has won the competition . Even Narada praised ganesha and declared him the winner. When asked he explained - "according to Vedas one who with due bhakthi & respect does a single circum navigate pranama to parents , it is equivalent to traversing the whole world once" - and this is what ganesha has done now 3 times which makes him the winner

Everyone praised the intelligence and character of Ganesha and declared him as the overlord of the devataas . From then Ganesha was known as "Ganapathi". This is the reason even now it has come as a practice - first pooja is submitted to Ganapathi - praying him to provide blessings to conduct an event without any failure and then the actual event starts .

This story leaves a good message even to the present society - some people  forget and don’t realize the truth about the living gods - their elders and parents and instead go in search of god travelling places . If everyone starts following the same principle treat their elders and parents as Gods with love , affection and follow their instructions with respect then just imagine how further beautiful this world would have been !

ಸೂಚನೆ : ಈ ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಓದುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಶುರುಮಾಡುವ ಮುನ್ನ ಕರವಸ್ತ್ರವನ್ನು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ ಕ್ಷೇಮ. ಯಾಕೆಂದರೆ, ಇದು ತಾಯಿಯ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಮತ್ತು ತ್ಯಾಗವನ್ನು ಕಂಡುಂಡು ಕಡುಬಡತನದಲ್ಲಿ ಬೆಳೆದ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ. ಸಿರಿ ಉಕ್ಕಿ ಮದ ಹೊಕ್ಕಿದವರಿಗಿಲ್ಲ.

ತುಂಬಾ ದೂರ ಅಲ್ಲ ಸಾರ್, ಇಲ್ಲೇ, ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ತುಮಕೂರಿನ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ನೆಲಮಂಗಲ ಇದೆಯಲ್ಲ? ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಂಟಿಕೊಂಡ ಹಾಗೇ ಇರುವ ಪುಟ್ಟ ಗ್ರಾಮ ನಮ್ದು. ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಅಂದ್ಮೇಲೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿನ ಬದುಕು ಹೇಗಿರತ್ತೆ ಅಂತ ನಿಮಗೇನೂ ವಿವರಿಸಬೇಕಿಲ್ಲ ಅಲ್ವ? ನಮಗಂತೂ ಬಡತನವೇ ಬದುಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಕೂಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಪ್ಪನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ನಿಶ್ಚಿತ ಆದಾಯ ಅಂತ ಇರಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೀತಿದ್ದ ಸಾಹುಕಾರರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಕಾಸು ಕೊಡ್ತಿದ್ರು ನಿಜ. ಆದ್ರೆ
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ನಾಲ್ಕು ಜನರ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ತಿದ್ರು. ಹಗಲಿಂದ ದುಡಿದು ದುಡಿದು ಸುಸ್ತಾಗ್ತಿತ್ತು ನೋಡಿ, ಅದಕ್ಕೇ ಅಪ್ಪ ಕುಡಿತ ಕಲಿತ. ಸಂಜೆ ಮನೆಗೆ ಬಂದವನು ಅಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಒಂದಿಷ್ಟು ದುಡ್ಡು ಕೊಟ್ಟು, ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಕುಶಾಲಿನಿಂದ ಮಾತಾಡಿಸಿ, ಸೀದಾ ಹೆಂಡದಂಗಡಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿಬಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ. ಇಂಥ ಬದುಕಿನ ಹಲಗೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ, ಸದಾ ಅಣಕಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕಡು ಬಡತನದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ, ಬಂಧುಗಳ ತಾತ್ಸಾರದ ನಡುವೆ, ನೆರೆಹೊರೆಯವರ ಸಣ್ಣ ಮಾತುಗಳ
ನುಂಗಿ ಅಮ್ಮ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಅದೆಷ್ಟು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ಬೆಳೆಸಿದಳು ಗೊತ್ತಾ ಸಾರ್? ಆದರೆ ಹಾಗೆ ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮ್ಮ ಸಂದರ್ಭಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕ ಹಾಗೆ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡೇ ಬಂದಳು. ಆ ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಸಂಕಟವಿತ್ತು. ಹಸಿವಿತ್ತು. ಕಣ್ಣೀರಿತ್ತು. ನಿಟ್ಟುಸಿರಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಬದುಕಿನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಬಡತನದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ; ಸಿಡಿಮಿಡಿಯಿತ್ತು. ಏನೂ ಮಾಡಲಾಗದ ತನ್ನ ಅಸಹಾಯಕತೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ವಿಷಾದವಿತ್ತು. ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿರಲಿ ಎಂಬ ಒಂದೇ
ಕಾರಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಮ್ಮ ಮೇಲಿಂದ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದೊಂದೇ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳ್ತಿದ್ಲು. ಅದೆಲ್ಲ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಅಂತ ನಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ತುಂಬ ತಡವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಈಗ, ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದ ಸುಳ್ಳುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಸಂದರ್ಭ ಸಹಿತ ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಂಚ್ಕೋಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನಿಸ್ತಿದೆ ಸಾರ್. *** *ನಾನು ಆಗಷ್ಟೇ ಒಂದನೇ ತರಗತಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದೆ. ಯಥಾಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮನೇಲಿ ಮಧಾಹ್ನದ ಬಡತನವಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅದು ನಮಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತೇ ಆಗದಂತೆ ಅಮ್ಮ ಎಚ್ಚರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದಳು. ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ
ಹೊತ್ತು ತಿಂಡಿ ತಿಂದು ನಮಗೆ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸವೇ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೆ ಬೆಳಗ್ಗೇನೇ ಅಮ್ಮ ಅಕ್ಕಿಯದೋ, ರಾಗೀದೋ ಗಂಜಿ ಮಾಡ್ತಿದ್ದಳು. ಅಪ್ಪ ಲಗುಬಗೆಯಿಂದ ಗಂಜಿ ಕುಡಿದು ಹೋದ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಳಿದಿದ್ದರಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನು ಅಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲು ಮಾಡ್ಕೋತಾ ಇದ್ವಿ. ತುಂಬಾ ಸಂದರ್ಭಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಏನಾಗ್ತಾ ಇತ್ತು ಅಂದ್ರೆ, ಅಮ್ಮ ತಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ಗಂಜಿ ಹಾಕಿದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ನಾನು ಗಟಗಟನೆ ಕುಡಿದುಬಿಡ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ಎರಡೇ ನಿಮಿಷದಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ತಟ್ಟೆ ಖಾಲಿಯಾದದ್ದು ಕಂಡು ಅಮ್ಮ,
ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಮೆಲ್ಲನೆ ನಕ್ಕು ತನ್ನ ತಟ್ಟೇಲಿ ಇದ್ದುದನ್ನೂ ನನಗೇ ಕೊಡ್ತಿದ್ಲು. ನಾನು ಅಚ್ಚರಿಯಿಂದ'ಅಯ್ಯೋ ಯಾಕಮ್ಮಾ ಎಂಬಂತೆ ನೋಡಿದರೆ ಕಂದಾ, ನನಗೆ ಈಗ ಹಸಿವಾಗ್ತಾನೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ನೋಡಪ್ಪ. ನೀನು ಸ್ಕೂಲಿಗೆ ಹೋಗ್ಬೇಕಲ್ಲ? ಸುಸ್ತಾಗುತ್ತೆ. ತಗೋ, ಹೊಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬ ಕುಡಿ. ಹೇಗಿದ್ರೂ ನಂಗೆ ಹಸಿವಾಗ್ತಾ ಇಲ್ಲವಲ್ಲ. ಅನ್ನುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು. ಅದು ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮೊದಲ ಸುಳ್ಳು.

 *ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಭಯ ಭಕ್ತಿ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಅಂತಾರೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಮಟ್ಟಿಗೂ ಈ ಮಾತು ನಿಜವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅದೇ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಹಬ್ಬ ಹರಿದಿನಗಳೂ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಇದ್ದವು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಹಬ್ಬಕ್ಕೂ ಬೆಲ್ಲದ ಪಾಯಸವೇ ಸ್ಪೆಷಲ್ಲು! ಆಗಲೂ ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಸಾರ್. ಅಮ್ಮ ಒಂದು ಪಾತ್ರೇಲಿ ಪಾಯಸ ಮಾಡಿರ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಳು. ಹಬ್ಬದ ದಿನ ಮಾತ್ರ ಗಂಜಿಯ ಬದಲಿಗೆ ಅನ್ನ ಮಾಡಿರ್ತಾ ಇದ್ಳು. ನಾನು ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ ತಟ್ಟೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಅನ್ನ ಹಾಕಿಸ್ಕೊಂಡು ಗಬಗಬಾಂತ ತಿಂದು ಮುಗಿಸ್ತಿದ್ದೆ. ಆಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದು
ರೌಂಡ್ ಪಾಯಸ ಕುಡಿದು, ಮತ್ತೆ ಆ ಪಾತ್ರೆಯ ಕಡೆಗೇ ಆಸೆಯಿಂದ ನೋಡ್ತಿದ್ದೆ ನೋಡಿ, ಆಗಲೇ ಅಮ್ಮ ಅಷ್ಟೂ ಪಾಯಸವನ್ನು ನಂಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು 'ಕಂದಾ, ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಕುಡ್ಕೋ. ನನಗೆ ವಿಪರೀತ ಹಲ್ಲು ನೋವು ಕಣಪ್ಪಾ. ಜತೆಗೆ ಸಿಹಿ ಅಂದ್ರೆ ನಂಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟವಿಲ್ಲ' ಅಂದುಬಿಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು. ನಂತರ ಸರಸರನೆ ಅಡುಗೆ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ, ಒಂದು ಚೊಂಬಿನ ತುಂಬಾ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿದು- 'ಹೌದಪ್ಪಾ, ನನಗೆ ಸಿಹಿ ಇಷ್ಟವಿಲ್ಲ' ಅಂತಿದ್ಲು. ಅದು ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ಎರಡನೇ
ಸುಳ್ಳು!

 *ಆಗಷ್ಟೇ ನಾನು ಐದನೇ ತರಗತಿಗೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದೆ. ಸ್ಕೂಲಿಂದ ಟೂರ್ ಹೊರಟಿದ್ರು. ಒಬ್ಬರಿಗೆ 300 ರೂ. ಶುಲ್ಕ. ಎಲ್ಲ ವಿಷಯ ಹೇಳಿ 'ಅಪ್ಪಾ, ಕಾಸು ಕೊಡಪ್ಪಾ' ಅಂದೆ. 'ಮಗಾ, ಇಡೀ ವರ್ಷ ದುಡಿದ್ರೂ ನನಗೆ ಅಷ್ಟು ದುಡ್ಡು ಸಿಗಲ್ಲ. ಬಡವಾ ನೀ ಮಡಗಿದಂಗಿರು ಅಂದಿದಾರೆ ದೊಡ್ಡವರು. ಹಾಗೇ ಇರು. ಟೂರೂ ಬೇಡ, ಗೀರೂ ಬೇಡ' ಅಂದೇಬಿಟ್ಟ ಅಪ್ಪ. ಅವತ್ತಿಂದಲೇ ಹಗಲಿಡೀ ಕೆಲಸ ಮುಗಿಸಿ, ರಾತ್ರಿ ಅದೆಷ್ಟೋ ಹೊತ್ತಿನವರೆಗೂ ಬೀಡಿ ಕಟ್ತಾ ಇರ್‍ತಿದ್ಲು
ಅಮ್ಮ. ಯಾಕಮ್ಮಾ ಹೀಗೆ ಅಂದ್ರೆ 'ನಂಗೆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಹೊತ್ತು ನಿದ್ರೇನೇ ಬರ್‍ತಿಲ್ಲ ಮಗನೇ' ಅಂದು ಕೆಲಸ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸ್ತಾ ಇದ್ಳು. ಕಡೆಗೊಂದು ದಿನ ಮುದುರಿ ಮುದುರಿ ಮುದುರಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ ನೋಟುಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಕೊಟ್ಟು "ಟೂರ್‌ಗೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದು ಬಾಪ್ಪ" ಅಂದಳು. ಅದು ಸಾಲ ಮಾಡಿದ ಹಣ ಎದು ನನಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ಅಮ್ಮ ಮತ್ತೆ ಬೀಡಿ ಕಟ್ಟಳು ಕುಳಿತಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಹಿಂದೆಯೇ 'ಅಯ್ಯೋ ನಂಗೆ ನಿದ್ರೇನೇ ಬರ್‍ತಿಲ್ಲ' ಎಂಬ ಅದೇ ಹಳೆಯ ಮಾತು
ಬೇರೆ. ಹೌದು. ಅದು ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ಮೂರನೇ ಸುಳ್ಳು. 
*ಏಳನೇ ತರಗತಿಗೆ ಬರುವ ವೇಳೆಗೆ ನನಗೆ ಸ್ಕಾಲರ್‌ಷಿಪ್ ಬಂತು. ಭರ್ತಿ ನೂರು ರೂಪಾಯಿ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಹೊಸ ಸೀರೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಡೋಣ ಅಂತ ಆಸೆಯಿತ್ತು. ದುಡ್ಡನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು, 'ಕೆಂಪು ಕಲರ್ದು ಒಂದು ಸೀರೆ ತಗೋಮ್ಮ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಚೆಂದ ಕಾಣ್ತೀಯ' ಅಂದೆ.ಅಷ್ಟಕ್ಕೇ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬಾಚಿ ತಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಹಣೆಗೆ ಮುತ್ತಿಟ್ಟು, ನಿಂತಲ್ಲೇ ಬಿಕ್ಕಳಿಸಿದಳು ಅಮ್ಮ. ನಂತರ, ಅವತ್ತೇ ಸಂತೆಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಪ್ಪನಿಗೂ ನನಗೂ
ಹೊಸ ಬಟ್ಟೆ ತಂದಳು. 'ನಿನಗೆ' ಅಂದಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗ್ಯಾಕಪ್ಪ ಬಟ್ಟೆ? ನನಗೆ ಅಂಥ ಆಸೆಯೇನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ತೇಲಿಸಿ ಮಾತಾಡಿದಳು. ಅದು ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ನಾಲ್ಕನೇ ಸುಳ್ಳು!

 *ಕೆಲಸ ಮತ್ತು ಕುಡಿತ ಎರಡೂ ವಿಪರೀತ ಇತ್ತಲ್ಲ, ಅದೇ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ ಅಪ್ಪ ಅದೊಂದು ದಿನ ದಿಢೀರ್ ಸತ್ತು ಹೋದ. ಆಗ ಅಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಬರೀ 32 ವರ್ಷ! ಸಂಸಾರದ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಹೊರೆ ಅಮ್ಮನ ಹೆಗಲಿಗೆ ಬಿತ್ತು. ಬಡತನದ ಮಧ್ಯೆ, ಹಸಿವಿನ ಮಧ್ಯೆ, ಹೋರಾಟದ ಮಧ್ಯೆಯೇ ಬದುಕಿದೆವಲ್ಲ, ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಅಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ದಾಂಪತ್ಯ ಸುಖ ಅಂದರೆ ಏನೆಂದೇ ಗೊತ್ತಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದನ್ನೇ ಪಾಯಿಂಟ್ ಎಂದಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡ ಬಂಧುಗಳು- 'ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಮದುವೆ ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಳ್ಳೇ. ನಿಂಗಿನ್ನೂ
ಚಿಕ್ಕ ವಯಸ್ಸು. ಗಂಡಿನ ಸಾಂಗತ್ಯ ಬಯಸುವ ವಯಸ್ಸು ಅದು' ಎಂದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದರು.'ಇಲ್ಲ. ಇಲ್ಲ. ನನ್ನೆದೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಈಗ ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಪ್ರೇಮ, ಪ್ರಣಯ ಎಂಬಂಥ ಸೆಂಟಿಮೆಂಟಿಗೆ ಜಾಗವೇ ಇಲ್ಲ' ಅಂದು ದೃಢವಾಗಿಯೇ ಹೇಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟಳಲ್ಲ ಅಮ್ಮ...ನಂಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತು. ಅದು, ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ಐದನೇ ಸುಳ್ಳು. 

*ಓದು ಮುಗಿದದ್ದೇ ತಡ, ನಂಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಸಿಕ್ತು. ಸಿಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಮನೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ. ಒಂದಿಷ್ಟು ದುಡ್ಡು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡೆ. ಅಮ್ಮ ನನಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಪಟ್ಟ ಕಷ್ಟವೆಲ್ಲ ಗೊತ್ತಿತ್ತಲ್ಲ, ಅದೇ ಕಾರಣದಿಂದ, ಈ ಹಣವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ಅಮ್ಮನ ಕೈಗಿಟ್ಟು 'ಇದೆಲ್ಲಾ ನಿನ್ನದು ಅಮ್ಮಾ. ತಗೊಂಡು ಹಾಯಾಗಿರು. ಈಗಿಂದಾನೇ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡೋದು ನಿಲ್ಸು. ಈ ಗುಡಿಸಲಿನಂಥ ಮನೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ಬಾ. ನನ್ನ ಜತೇಲೇ ಇದ್ದು ಬಿಡು' ಎಂದೆಲ್ಲಾ ಹೇಳಬೇಕು ಅನ್ನಿಸ್ತು.
ಸಡಗರದಿಂದಲೇ ಊರಿಗೆ ಹೋದವನು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಹೇಳಿದೆ. ಅಷ್ಟೂ ದುಡ್ಡನ್ನು ಅಮ್ಮನ ಮುಂದೆ ಸುರಿದೆ. ಅಮ್ಮ ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬಂತೆ, ಅಷ್ಟನ್ನೂ ತೆಗೆದು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಲಿಟ್ಟು ಹೇಳಿದಳು: 'ಮಗಾ, ನನ್ನತ್ರ ದುಡ್ಡಿದೆ ಕಣಪ್ಪಾ. ಮಡಿಕೆ, ಕುಡಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲೆಲ್ಲ ಅಡಗಿಸಿಟ್ಟಿದೀನಿ ಕಣೋ. ಅದೆಲ್ಲ ಖರ್ಚಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಹತ್ರ ಕೇಳ್ತೀನಿ. ಸದ್ಯಕ್ಕಂತೂ ನನಗೆ ದುಡ್ಡಿನ ಅಗತ್ಯಾನೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅದು ಹೌದು, ಅದು ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ಆರನೇ ಸುಳ್ಳು. 
*ಉಹುಂ, ಅಮ್ಮ ನನ್ನ ಯಾವುದೇ ಆಸೆಗೂ ಅಡ್ಡಿ ಬರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಮುಂದೆ ನನ್ನಿಷ್ಟದಂತೆಯೇ ಮದುವೆಯಾಯಿತು. ಶ್ರೀಮಂತರ ಮನೆಯಿಂದ ಬಂದಿದ್ದ ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಅಮ್ಮನಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಜೆಸ್ಟ್ ಆಗಲೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಅಮ್ಮನ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವಳದು ದಿನಾಲೂ ಒಂದಲ್ಲ ಒಂದು ದೂರು. ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳೋದೇಕೆ ಸಾರ್? ಪ್ರಾಯದ ಮದ, ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಮೇಲಿನ ಮೋಹ ನೋಡಿ, ನಾನೂ ಅವಳ ತಾಳಕ್ಕೆ ತಕ್ಕಂತೆಯೇ ಕುಣಿದೆ. ಒಂದೆರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಅಮ್ಮನನ್ನೇ ಗದರಿಸಿಬಿಟ್ಟೆ. ಹೊಂದಾಣಿಕೆ
ಮಾಡ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗೋಕ್ಕಾಗಲ್ವ ಎಂದು ರೇಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟೆ. ಅವತ್ತು ಇಡೀ ದಿನ ಅಮ್ಮ ಮಂಕಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಕಂಡದ್ದೇ ನನಗೆ ಕಪಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಡೆದಂತಾಯಿತು. 'ಅಮ್ಮಾ. ತಪ್ಪಾಯ್ತು ಕ್ಷಮಿಸು' ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಕೇಳುವ ಮೊದಲೇ-'ನಾನು ಹಳೇ ಕಾಲದ ಹೆಂಗ್ಸು. ತಪ್ಪು ಮಾಡಿಬಿಟ್ಟೆ. ಕ್ಷಮಿಸಿಬಿಡ್ರಪ್ಪಾ' ಎಂದ ಅಮ್ಮ 'ನಮ್ಮಿಬ್ಬರದೂ ತಪ್ಪಿಲ್ಲ' ಎಂದು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದಳು. ಅದು ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ಏಳನೇ ಸುಳ್ಳು. 
*ಕಾಲ ಅನ್ನೋದು ಕೃಷ್ಣ ಚಕ್ರದ ಥರಾ ಗಿರಗಿರಗಿರಾಂತ ಓಡಿಬಿಡ್ತು. ಅಮ್ಮ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಸೇರಿದ್ದಳು. ದಡಬಡಿಸಿ ಹೋದರೆ 'ನಿಮ್ಮ ತಾಯಿಗೆ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಕಣ್ರೀ. ಆಗಲೇ ಫೈನಲ್ ಸ್ಟೇಜ್‌ಗೆ ಬಂದು ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ತಕ್ಷಣ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿ. ಇನ್ನು ಕೆಲವೇ ದಿನ ಅವರು ಬದುಕೋದು. ಆಗಾಗಿ ಹುಶಾರಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ ಅಂದ್ರು ಡಾಕ್ಟರ್. ನಾನು ಹೆದರುತ್ತ, ಹೆದರುತ್ತಲೇ ಅಮ್ಮನ ಬಳಿ ಬಂದೆ. ಒಂದು ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುರಸುಂದರಿಯಂತಿದ್ದ
ಅಮ್ಮ; ತನ್ನ ಪಾಡಿಗೆ ತಾನೇ ಹಾಡು ಹೇಳಿಕೊಂಡು ಡ್ಯಾನ್ಸು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಮ್ಮ; ಮಿಣುಕು ದೀಪದ ಬೆಳಕಲ್ಲಿ ಅಪ್ಸರೆಯಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಮ್ಮ; ದಿನವೂ ನನಗೆ ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ತೆಗೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಮ್ಮ; ತನ್ನ ಪಾಲಿನ ಊಟವನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ನನಗೇ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಅಮ್ಮ; ಎಲ್ಲ ಸಂಕಟಗಳಿಗೂ ಸವಾಲು ಹಾಕಿ ಗೆದ್ದ ಅಮ್ಮ ಜೀವಚ್ಛವವಾಗಿ ಮಲಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆಕೆಯ ಕಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಂತಿ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಕಂಬನಿಯೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅಮ್ಮನನ್ನು ಆ ಸ್ಥಿತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ
ನೋಡಿದ್ದೇ ನನಗೆ ಕಣ್ತುಂಬಿ ಬಂತು. ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕಡೆಗಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂಬ ಗಿಲ್ಟ್ ಕಾಡಿತು. ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ, ಅದು ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನೂ  ಮರೆತು ಜೋರಾಗಿ ಬಿಕ್ಕಳಿಸಿದೆ. ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ, ನಡುಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಕೈಗಳಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಕಂಬನಿ ತೊಡೆದ ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದಳು: ನಂಗೇನೂ ಆಗಿಲ್ಲ ಕಂದಾ, ಅಳಬೇಡ. ನಂಗೇನೂ ಆಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದು, ಅಮ್ಮ ಹೇಳಿದ ಕೊನೆಯ ಸುಳ್ಳು!

Happiness short stories

Some of the nice stories on "Happiness" shared within our communities. 

Story 1 : 

Once a group of 50 people was attending a seminar.

Suddenly the speaker stopped and started giving each one a balloon. Each one was asked to write his/her name on it using a marker pen. Then all the balloons were collected and put in another room.

Now these delegates were let in that room and asked to find the balloon which had their name written, within 5 minutes. Everyone was frantically searching for their name, colliding with each other, pushing around others and there was utter chaos.

At the end of 5 minutes no one could find their own balloon.

Now each one was asked to randomly collect a balloon and give it to the the person whose name was written on it.

Within minutes everyone had their own balloon.

The speaker began--- Exactly this is happening in our lives. Everyone is frantically looking for happiness all around, not knowing where it is. 

Our happiness lies in the happiness of other people. Give them their happiness, you will get your own happiness.

And this is the purpose of human life.

Story 2 

Who is Happy ???

A Crow Lived in the Forest and was absolutely satisfied in life. 

But one day he saw a swan...
This swan is so white and I am so black...crow thought.

This swan must be the happiest bird in the world.

He expressed his thoughts to the swan. 
"Actually," the swan replied, 

"I was feeling that I was the happiest bird around until I saw a parrot, which has two colors. 
I now think the parrot is the happiest bird in creation." 

The crow then approached the parrot. 
The parrot explained, 
"I lived a very happy life—until I saw a peacock.
I have only two colors, but the peacock has multiple colors." 

The crow then visited a peacock in the zoo and saw that hundreds of people had gathered to see him. 

After the people had left, 
The crow approached the Peacock..

Dear Peacock, 
You are so beautiful. 
Every day thousands of people come to see you. 
When people see me, 
they immediately shoo me away. 
I think you are the happiest bird on the planet.

The peacock replied, 
I always thought that I was the most beautiful and happy bird on the planet. 
But because of my beauty, 
I am entrapped in this zoo. 

I have examined the zoo very carefully, and I have realized that the crow is the only bird not kept in a cage. 

So for past few days I have been thinking that if I were a crow, 
I could happily roam everywhere.

That's our problem too. 

We make unnecessary comparison with others and become sad. 

We don't value what has God given us. 
This all leads to the vicious cycle of unhappiness. 

Value the things god has given us. 

Learn the secret of being happy and discard the comparison which leads only to unhappiness..

Sometimes you are unsatisfied with your life, while many people in  this world are dreaming  of living your life.. 
A child on a farm sees  a plane fly overhead & dreams of flying. But, A pilot on the plane sees  the farmhouse & dreams of returning home. 
That's life!! Enjoy yours... If wealth is the secret to happiness, then the rich should be dancing on the streets. But only poor kids do that. 
If power ensures security, then officials should walk unguarded. But those who live simply, sleep soundly.  
If beauty and fame bring ideal relationships, then  celebrities should have  the best marriages.  Live simply. Walk humbly. and love genuinely..!  All good will come back

Gratitude - a short story

A very good person had passed away . An angel came and took him to heaven with all respects and was showing different parts of heaven. As they moved on , they first noticed a section where many angels were busy working . The person noticed this and with surpise asked the angel why they are so busy . The angel replied - this is the "Prayers Receive" Section . Their job is to document all the prayers and requests which people on Earth ask to God. As there are so many prayers and requests , they are very busy. They moved on to another section , where again many angels were fully busy without having time to speak to each other. The person asked again the same question for which the angel replied - This is the "Grant Section" for which God has granted the response for people's prayer requests. As god fulfills many requests , this section is also always busy.

As they further moved on , they noticed a small room in which only one angel was sitting without much work. To his suprise , the person asked - Why this angel is not busy as other angels. The angel replied , this is the "Thanks Giving section" - their job is to collect & document the thanks giving response people send after their request is fulfilled by God.  The person curiously asked how do people do this. The angel replied - "Its very simple. After God fulfills one's request, if the person with gratitude prays the God and submits his thanks, it reaches here".  Then the person asked for what reasons should one show gratitude to God.

The angel smiled and replied - "If in your house , if there is no problem for your food , you have shelter and have proper clothes on your skin , then you belong to the world's 25% lucky people. If you have some Bank balance and good education , then you are one among the world's 1% luckiest people. When you get up daily , if you are healthy , you still have the chance to serve your dear parents , if you are part of happy family , if you can raise your head in front of others with self confidence , you are one among the most luckiest person in the world. For all these reasons one may send back gratitude to god"

The person realized why the single angel at Thanksgiving section was not that busy , as the number of Gratitude response from people was very less and felt sad about the same. Showing Gratitude is the first character of a civilized person. Forgetting one's help and the one who helped is like forgetting the culture.

The confirmed path to Success - a short story

This is one of the stories of King Manu collected from the history of India myth which is summarized to a short story. Once king Manu went to a river shore to perform some rituals . While doing so , when he picked some water from the river he found a small fish in it. When he tried to put it back , the fish replied "Please Help me. I will help you some time later". Manu agreed and took it to his home , and left it in a big pot. The next day , the fish had expanded in size and had occupied the full pot. So Manu now left it in a small pond. Sooner it occupied the size of pond as well , then Manu left it in a sea. Even then it was ever growing and 

occupied that as well ! Then the fish replied "King Manu, in the next 100 years the world shall get demolished with a water flood. The whole world would get sunk in it. After some years , once water stops things would be normal. But the world should continue anyway isin't it ? Hence you may start constructing a big ship . In that you cultivate necessary living things like plants , pets , animal pairs , food which would suffice for at-least 10 years etc whichever may be required to start a fresh world. Now you may leave me in a ocean. I shall come back during the flood . I shall be having a big horn and shall carry your ship to a safe place to one of the highest peaks . Once the water level settles down , the birds , animals and the living species may start a new world altogether. " . King Manu agreed to this and left the fish in the ocean. The fish swum inside the ocean and disappeared.

After around 100 years , the fish's words came true and there was a heavy water flood. As promised , the fish came to King Manu , took the ship and progressed towards the highest mountain peaks. Once the water level settled down, the world started again from the  species stored. This is one of the amazing stories. On similar lines we find a story in Bible as well where Noah too had experienced this incident. 

Either King Manu or Noah would have not trusted the fish at the first instance. If they had not had the trust then the world would not have existed. When the fish swum inside the ocean , there was no rain not there was any flood. But still Manu decided to make the ship. Many people thought he was stupid and would have advised him to stop trying it. When he brought in every living specie and  cultivated it ,  many thought it may be a waste effort. many may have thought during signs of flood , who would sail this gigantic ship , is it really possible to be alive when such a thing happens and would have lost their lives also. But the dedication King Manu had , the commitment towards his set goal , the efforts and attempts he made to made it possible to start a new world.

This story teaches a very strong message - "Just like how our goals are important, our constant efforts to make it happen are also very important. Overcoming all negative thoughts of people around, their sayings , their suggestions - without fear one who does not give up in between and continuously believes in himself and gives his best to achieve it has definitely confirmed his path to success"

The Little scam - a short story

Ramaswamy - was very famous in the village. He was working as a high school head master. His words were respected among the people in the village. He was leading such a noble life , he never used to speak untruth , nor he used to do misdeeds and always had a  polite  & friendly loving character. He had 2 sons who were both intelligent. Both of them were educated well. One became an Engineer and  the other became a Manager. Later after 5 years both thought instead of being employed , why not they start their own business and provide job opportunities to others. They discussed this with their father Ramaswamy , who also agreed its a very good idea . He advised - "Sons , be careful - do good business , be honest and sincere towards your goal. Do not do any misdeeds in greed of more profits and affect your character". Both sons agreed and started the firm. They achieved good results for 2 years. But one day , Ramaswamy heard from one of his friend that there were some scams observed in his sons firm. He was very upset hearing this and wanted to collect feed backs from his sons. He called them and asked about the same. They replied - "Yes father , as you may be aware  in business it is very difficult to be honest at all times and some times we may have to adjust - there may be little scams - but you please don't worry about it". Ramaswamy went silent on hearing the same and thought to make his sons understand their mistake on this matter.

The next day there was a festival in the house. Ramaswamy had asked his wife to make sweet dishes on account of festival. While having lunch along with his sons he said - "Dear Sons , today is a festival. I have only asked your mother to prepare this special sweet dishes , It is made up of dry fuits , pure ghee and cow milk with kesar , see how mouth watering and scented it is. Please have it slowly . One thing - I have also mixed one item in it. It is a very small part of our dog's shit. It is very very less - and does not create any smell and you will not notice it. Please have your sweet dishes". The sons face showed reluctance to having the sweet dishes. Ramaswamy then said "What happened , the sweet is made up of very good items , only a very small part is having the shit. Please have it" . One of the son replied - "Father how can we have this , is there any limit like little shit or more shit you are talking about, isin't it still shit , how can we have it ?" . Ramaswamy immediately replied - "Son , similarly is there anything called little scam or big scam in business, Isin't a small cheat still a cheat ?" . Sons understood their mistake and took apologizes for the same.

Whether it is small or big , a cheat is like having shit business. If we say we will jump into a well only to little extent , what does that mean ? Once jumped, we have to reached the bottom of it. Once a mind decides to cheat , it continuous to make such decisions and adjustments leading finally to big scams. Awareness on the same is very important. Be good , do good.

How to run towards a problem - a short story

Have you heard of a saint and dog story anytime? This story has inspired many minds. It has induced strength and also ways to overcome problems.

Once a saint came to Himalayas. He wanted to visit all the temples there and collect information. Not only he visited temples, he used to collect history about the temples. He also had appointed a personal assistant and guider for this activity. Once the saint and his assistant went to a big temple. When the saint approached towards the temple big gates, he observed huge dogs tied to each gate. The dogs were looking like beasts and seem to look like having the strength of tiger. A very strong chain was used to tie them to the gates. The saint looking at the dogs took his steps back. His assistant informed him not to worry as the dogs are tied to the gates.

But the dogs kept barking continuously on seeing them. It started pulling out the chain desperately to get released from the chain. Their red eyes even turned red now. Anyone who would see these dogs would have definitely felt afraid. The assistant replied, “Sir, these are hunting dogs. If these find anyone, these they will encroach and rip them apart. But you don’t worry – they are tied to the gates with strong chains, they will not be able to come out”

The saint and his assistant entered into the temple and started their way towards the temple shrine. They suddenly heard some people voice saying “Oh, Oh my god . be careful , run , run !! “. The saint turned back hearing this and saw the dogs had somehow broke the chains and were running towards them at a rapid pace!! The dogs were sprinting like cheetahs while they headed towards the saint and seemed to encroach in no time.

At this moment, the saint started running. He started running putting his full efforts and strength. He did not run away from the dogs , but instead towards the dogs!! Guess what happened at this moment?

The dogs went by a surprise looking at the saint running towards them and run into confusion. Then went back to the gates where they were tied earlier. The watchman later tied the dogs with chains back to the gates.

The assistant who was seeing all this was astonished and asked the saint why he did like that. The saint replied – “In our life all our problems are like these dogs, if we run from them they will not leave us and be always behind creating issues, but once we face them and start running over them, they go out”

Most of us in our life spend most of our time fearing to something. When problems come, we may fear when we may lose out. Hence we always try to run away from problems. If we realize the above story, we understand the solution is not from running away from problems but instead facing them with full strength!
